Despite the controversy among some adults on whether COVID-19 vaccines should be given to minors, a new record has been set this week for COVID vaccines among 16 and 17 year olds in the United States, according to CDC data.

As of last Friday, April 16th, 249,796 minors were fully vaccinated against COVID-19. As of yesterday, April 23rd, 389,204 minors were fully vaccinated--registering a 139,410 increase this past week.

The stark increase in youth vaccinations is most likely ascribable to all United States residents, 16 and older, becoming eligible for the vaccine on Monday.
